Neeraj Pandey on Maithili Thakur’s Bihar safety remark: ‘Not everyone’s Bihar is the same’

Writer-lyricist Neeraj Pandey, from Buxar in Bihar, has criticized Bihar MLA Maithili Thakur over her remarks about women's safety in the state. Pandey, who has worked on films like Mrs. Ramprasad Ki Tehrvi and Happy Patel, shared his concerns about Thakur's statement on Instagram. He pointed out that her experience in Bihar does not reflect the reality of every person who has lived there.

Pandey himself shared that he never felt safe growing up in the state, despite his privileges as a man. He urged people to listen to the experiences of those directly affected rather than relying on individual perceptions of safety. Referring to the Jamui incident, Pandey emphasized the need to consider the girl's perspective. He also suggested that he may write about his own experiences in a book, stating that home should be a safe space.

The video of Thakur defending Bihar's law and order predated the Jamui incident, which occurred on September 19.
