Man Utd put chunks of Old Trafford up for sale

Manchester United is offering fans the opportunity to purchase preserved pieces of the Old Trafford pitch for £125 each, according to the club's official website. The 1910-built stadium, often referred to as the "Theatre of Dreams," has been home to Manchester United since its inception and has witnessed numerous significant moments in the club's history, including their record 13 Premier League titles.

Despite the pitch currently being in good condition, the club revealed that it was fully excavated and restored in June for the first time in 14 years. This extensive renovation, carried out by groundsperson Tony Sinclair and his team, aimed to enhance player welfare and improve water drainage. During the process, sections of the pitch were meticulously preserved and later encased in glass cubes, transforming them into unique souvenirs for United supporters.

The club's decision to sell these preserved pitch sections comes at a challenging time for the team. Following a third-place finish in the Premier League last season, Manchester United has struggled to get off to a strong start this season, currently sitting 12th in the table with just one win from their first five league games. Moreover, the club has reported its seventh consecutive annual loss, largely due to increased spending on player acquisitions and the departure of former head coach Ruben Amorim.
