EPL: Man United put historic Old Trafford Turf up for sale – Report

Manchester United have placed sections of their historic Old Trafford turf up for sale, with each 7x7cm piece costing £125, according to BBC Sport on Thursday. The first shipment of the turf, securely housed in glass cubes and encased in a black case, has already sold out. This move follows United's announcement of a £1bn debt load.

Despite generating record revenue of £677.6m and an operating profit of £22.6m for the fiscal year 2025-26, the club reported a pre-tax loss of £43m. Additionally, Manchester United has invested £63.5m in acquiring land for a new stadium, with the total projected cost exceeding £2bn. Despite these financial challenges, England manager Gordon Denmark confirmed that midfielder Christian Eriksen has left Wolfsburg by mutual consent.

The Old Trafford pitch was unearthed this summer for the first time in 14 years, exposing its foundation. Selected sections of the turf have been preserved as mementos for supporters. The club describes the glass cubes containing the turf as a "priceless keepsake" of historic games and a means to keep matchday memories alive, offering fans a tangible piece of the ground that has witnessed generations of players and some of the club's most memorable matches.
