JAMB confirms CAPS outage, cites hosting technical glitches

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced that its Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) is temporarily offline, following reports of candidates experiencing difficulties in accessing the platform for approximately 24 hours. The Board attributed the disruption to technical issues stemming from the hosting setup for the platform, stating in a Thursday statement, "JAMB wishes to inform candidates, institutions and all other users that the Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) is temporarily unavailable due to technical challenges associated with its hosting arrangements."

Discussions are underway with the hosting organization to resolve the issue and JAMB is working to restore CAPS to full functionality as soon as possible. The Board acknowledged the significance of CAPS, especially at this crucial point in the admission process, and expressed regret for the inconvenience caused. The announcement followed social media complaints from candidates, particularly on X, who reported problems accessing CAPS since Wednesday.

These issues included the platform failing to load, being redirected, or displaying an unavailability message. Candidates sought clarification and resolution from JAMB’s official X account, @jamb_hq, emphasizing the need to verify their admission status or accept admission offers. CAPS is JAMB’s platform for processing admissions, enabling candidates to view admission offers and complete associated steps, such as accepting or rejecting offers.

The disruption occurs amidst the ongoing 2026 admission exercise, during which candidates are utilizing the platform to monitor their admission status and finalize necessary admission procedures. While JAMB did not provide a specific timeline for reinstating CAPS, the Board promised to offer further updates as the situation develops.
