Israel's US Envoy's Son Injured In West Bank Car-Ramming Attack

Israeli Ambassador to the United States, Yechiel Leiter, disclosed that his son, Neria, was the individual injured in a car-ramming incident that occurred on Wednesday in the West Bank. According to Israeli police, a Palestinian man deliberately drove his vehicle at high speed towards two individuals conducting vehicle searches—an Israeli policewoman and a soldier—at an intersection close to the Israeli settlement of Beit Horon, situated west of Ramallah.

The soldier sustained injuries and is currently receiving medical treatment, while the assailant was killed by Israeli forces. Emergency services from Magen David Adom evacuated a man in critical condition to a hospital. Ambassador Leiter conveyed that his son, Neria, remains gravely wounded, stating, "Neria needs a miracle." Neria continued to serve in the reserves following the loss of his elder brother, Moshe Yedidya Leiter, in Gaza in November 2023, who was also killed in action.

Israeli politicians, including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, expressed their solidarity with the family. Netanyahu implored for a miracle on X, and his office confirmed that Leiter was "very seriously wounded" in the attack. Netanyahu personally visited Neria Leiter in the hospital prior to departing for the United States. The Palestinian Health Ministry reported the death of 29-year-old Mahmoud Mohammad Mahmoud Suleiman, who was shot by Israeli forces near the village of Beit Ur al-Tahta, west of Ramallah.

The ministry further stated that Israeli authorities were withholding Suleiman's body. The town of Beit Ur al-Tahta, where Suleiman was killed, has been sealed off by Israeli forces, with all entrances blocked. No social or commercial activities are taking place, and the area exhibits no signs of normal life.
