Ambassador says son is fighting for his life after attack in West Bank

Israel's ambassador to the United States, Yechiel Leiter, reported that his son, Neria Leiter, is gravely injured after a car-ramming attack in the West Bank on Tuesday. The incident occurred at the Maccabim checkpoint, located west of Ramallah, which falls under the responsibility of the Binyamin Brigade, an IDF unit. The attacker was reportedly neutralized by security forces.

Neria, a reservist in the Israel Defense Forces, is currently receiving treatment at Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Jerusalem. His older brother, Maj. Moshe Yedidya Leiter, was killed in a battle in northern Gaza on November 10, 2023. Despite this tragedy, Neria has continued to serve in the army reserves, accumulating numerous reserve duty days since October 7th.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who is currently in New York for the United Nations General Assembly, expressed his family's prayers for a miracle for Neria and his father on social media.
