Trump's Board of Peace Proposes $2.45B to Rebuild Gaza

US President Donald Trump's Board of Peace has presented a $2.45 billion plan to rebuild and govern the Palestinian Gaza Strip over the next six months. The proposal, unveiled during a recent meeting, outlines a 66-project blueprint aimed at overcoming the significant challenges of rebuilding the devastated enclave. Former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair, a member of the organization's executive board, emphasized that Palestinians in Gaza need a solution, not just a slogan.

The proposed initiatives include temporary housing, rubble removal, hospital repairs, economic recovery, and the deployment of a multinational security force to support Trump's 20-point plan for ending the war. The board estimates that full reconstruction will cost approximately $35.2 billion over the medium term and $71.4 billion in the next decade.

The plan also calls for repairing border crossings, restoring electricity and water infrastructure, and deploying 25,000 portable solar power kits. However, the situation in Gaza remains dire, with most Palestinians still living in tent camps or the ruins of their former homes, despite the October 10 ceasefire. Israel continues to occupy about 60% of the territory, carrying out frequent attacks on Hamas militants.

Gaza authorities report over 1,300 Palestinian casualties since the ceasefire, while Hamas has not disarmed, despite expressing readiness to do so. Israel will not withdraw from occupied areas until Hamas fully disarms and is removed from the enclave.
