Iran’s president says US ‘must choose’ whether to end war

Iran's President Masoud Pezeshkian told Fox News that it is up to the United States to decide whether to end its war with Iran, as Tehran has no desire to continue fighting. During a visit to the United Nations, Pezeshkian expressed his defiance, stating that Iran will not yield to Washington, even as US President Donald Trump acknowledged ongoing US-Iran talks.

He emphasized that if Iran and the US can resolve their issues through dialogue, there is no need for violence. Pezeshkian also blamed Israel for instigating the war, claiming that Iran is ready to reach a deal with the US to put an end to the conflict. He questioned why the US chose to abandon an agreement just two weeks after signing it.

Pezeshkian's comments came as the Houthi militant group, widely believed to be backed by Iran, continued to clash with Saudi Arabia and its allies in Yemen. Despite the violence, Pezeshkian insisted that the Houthis do not receive direct orders from Iran's government and that there is no systematic relationship between the two. Saudi Arabia, however, intercepted Houthi ballistic missiles after issuing warnings for several regions, including Mecca, while the Houthis imposed a naval blockade on Saudi Arabia, targeting its tankers and territory. This move has disrupted Saudi oil exports and caused a surge in energy prices.
