From construction site to top of class: Daniel Doe emerges Legon’s best Computer Engineering student

Daniel Agudey Doe, a Computer Engineering graduate from the University of Ghana, has become the top student in his program despite facing major financial hardships during his college years. Before receiving financial aid through the MTN Ghana Bright Scholarship, Daniel worked on construction sites and took on other manual labor jobs during breaks to earn money for tuition and living expenses.

The scholarship provided by MTN Ghana Foundation, which has supported 1,220 students since 2017, covered his tuition and housing costs and provided additional help for his education. This assistance enabled Daniel to concentrate on his studies without constantly worrying about tuition, hostel fees, or daily survival. Consequently, he was able to fully immerse himself in group studies and coursework, ultimately graduating as the Best Graduating Computer Engineering Student.

Daniel attributes his academic success to the financial support, stating that without the scholarship, he likely would have dropped out due to financial pressure. Currently, Daniel is performing his National Service as a Data Engineer at Amalitech and plans to further his education by pursuing a master's degree in Robotics or a related field combining Robotics and Artificial Intelligence.
