From Construction Worker to Best Graduating Computer Engineering Student at Legon with the MTN Bright Scholarship

Daniel Agudey Doe entered the University of Ghana to study Computer Engineering, with aspirations in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. However, financial constraints threatened his ability to complete his degree. During school breaks, Daniel worked manual labor jobs, including construction site work, to save for the next term.

He often missed meals to make ends meet. With the MTN Ghana Bright Scholarship, Daniel's tuition, hostel fees, and study materials were covered. This allowed him to focus on academics instead of worrying about finances. The scholarship also provided relief to his family. Daniel's academic performance improved, and he graduated as the Best Graduating Computer Engineering Student.

Beyond tuition, scholarship coordinator George guided Daniel about National Service and career direction, leading him toward technology. Currently, Daniel is a Data Engineer at Amalitech, with plans for a career in data engineering, machine learning, and robotics, along with potential further studies. The MTN Bright Scholarship, launched in 2017, has supported 1,220 students to complete their tertiary education, with 47 achieving second-class upper and 16 second-class lower honours.

Daniel's story highlights the scholarship's impact beyond personal success, benefiting his family and community.
