Dhanush postpones OM for Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2: ‘Big films should respect each other’

Tamil cinema star Dhanush has delayed the release of his film OM: Chapter 1, his upcoming collaboration with actor Mammootty, to respect the release schedule of Rajinikanth's Jailer 2. The film, originally set to open on October 16, will now debut on a later date. Dhanush announced the change on X, expressing his admiration for Rajinikanth and acknowledging the difficulty of shifting a film's release date.

He noted that Rajinikanth's Jailer 2 is set to premiere on October 15, creating a potential clash in the crowded October-November release window. Dhanush opted against postponing to Diwali as well, as Suriya's film had already claimed that date, and he believed that big productions should show respect for each other's release plans to benefit the entire industry. The new release date for OM: Chapter 1 has yet to be announced.
