BYD Starts Mass Hiring at Major Factory

Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer BYD has initiated a significant hiring campaign, with over 8,000 positions available at its manufacturing facilities in Xi’an. The company's expansion follows recent upgrades to its factories, allowing it to ramp up production. Recruitment notices from local agencies, such as the Xi’an Municipal Human Resources and Social Security Bureau, have been posted to attract applicants.

BYD's compensation package includes signing bonuses of up to 6,000 yuan ($889) and monthly salaries of up to 10,000 yuan, depending on the role. The company is looking for general factory workers as well as skilled professionals in welding, painting, and final assembly. Following the completion of factory upgrades, including the adoption of its second-generation Blade Battery, BYD's four Xi’an plants have returned to full operating capacity.

Production had slowed in the first half of 2026, with some workers reassigned to other expanding facilities. The surge in hiring is driven by growing export demand, as BYD recorded a record 440,293 new energy vehicle sales in August, including 189,466 units exported abroad.
