Bentley's debut EV is a £173k luxury missile in SUV form that can out-accelerate supercars

Bentley has unveiled its first all-electric vehicle, the Torcan, a high-performance SUV with a powerful 876bhp engine capable of out-accelerating many supercars. The Torcan, based on Porsche’s PPE architecture, measures five meters in length and shares components with the Porsche Cayenne Electric, including the chassis, suspension, and powertrain.

Despite its similarities to the Cayenne, the Torcan boasts a distinctive design inspired by Bentley's DNA, featuring an imposing illuminated front grille, sculpted surfaces, and powerful rear haunches. The most impressive variant, the S model, is set to deliver a 2.8-second sprint to 60mph, potentially outperforming several supercars.

The electric vehicle is designed to be used year-round, with a massive 113kWh battery pack offering up to 375 miles of range. Charging can be completed at speeds of up to 400kW, allowing a 10-80% top-up in less than 20 minutes. To preserve the distinct sound of Bentley's V8 and V12 engines in its first electric model, the brand has opted for a real acoustic experience, crafting a "Bentley Dynamic Symphony" that includes sounds of drums, viola, bass guitar, and even hammers striking leather in the workshop.

The interior of the Torcan remains traditional, with physical controls and dials, while the infotainment system offers both Comfort Mode for fewer distractions and a digital detox option to minimize screen distractions during driving. Prices for the Torcan start at £173,300, with the S model priced at £199,300, with deliveries expected in Summer 2027.
