Open up land access to tackle housing deficit, valuers urge FG

Estate valuers have urged the Nigerian government to enhance land access and infrastructure development to tackle the country's housing deficit of over 21 million units. They also highlighted the need for increased investment in affordable housing for low- and middle-income earners, emphasizing the importance of reliable national data for property valuation, infrastructure planning, and economic development.

The Estate Surveyors and Valuers Registration Board of Nigeria (ESVARBON) President, Bature Muhammad, called for more accessible land for Nigerians to build their own homes, noting the government's ongoing Renewed Hope Housing Scheme. He also stressed the need for improved infrastructure and a consolidated national database to support government planning and economic development.
