Bekas COO TH mengaku tak salah terima kos ubah suai rumah RM302,499

Mahkamah Sesyen Shah Alam confirmed former Tabung Haji Operations Chief Adi Azuan Abdul Ghani's RM50,000 bail following three charges of receiving luxury home renovation costs totaling RM302,499.27 from AG Reka Sdn Bhd's chairman, Thamsulazri Ismail. The 56-year-old admitted to the charges before Judge Awang Kerisnada Awang Mahmud.

According to the complaint, Adi, who was then COO of TH, was accused of receiving renovation costs for three properties from Ismail, which were deemed insufficient. The renovation costs were RM235,866.58 for a house at Jalan Polo Air 13/58B, Seksyen 13, Shah Alam; RM50,698.74 at Jalan Sepah Puteri 5/20B, Kota Damansara, and RM15,933.95 at Jalan USJ Height 2/2A, Subang Jaya.

The offense allegedly occurred on March 7, 2017, and all charges were filed under Section 165 of the Penal Code, which could result in up to two years' imprisonment, a fine, or both, if Adi is found guilty. Senior Deputy Attorney General Muaz Ahmad Khairuddin suggested a RM70,000 bail, but Adi's lawyer, Wan Azwan Aiman Wan Fakhruddin, requested it be reduced to RM30,000 due to financial obligations for four children aged 12 to 25.

Adi's lawyer also requested his passport be returned, as he was planning to perform umrah and needed medical treatment for heart issues. The court granted Adi's bail with two sureties and ordered him to report to SPRM every three months, surrender his passport to the court, and refrain from disturbing witnesses. The case will be revisited on November 25.

Previously, the trial against Adi was delayed after he was admitted to Universiti Malaya Medical Center (PPUM) since August 31 due to heart problems. He had also been detained four times by SPRM in December 2018 to assist investigations related to the use of an online interior design contractor with ties to TH for home renovation work.
