Saudi Arabia takes part in high-level 'Overcoming Crises' dialogue in New York

In New York, Saudi Arabia's UN envoy took part in a high-level dialogue aimed at integrated crisis response and sustainable recovery. The event, organized by Lebanon, the EU, and the UNDP in Lebanon, brought together senior officials, representatives of nations, international bodies, financial institutions, and the private sector. Among those present was Lebanese Prime Minister Dr. Nawaf Salam.

The dialogue focused on the necessity of an integrated approach to crisis management, which intertwines immediate humanitarian aid with long-term recovery and development. It stressed the importance of bolstering the resilience of nations and communities, and highlighted the pivotal role of national institutions in spearheading recovery efforts and directing international aid to enhance their capacities.

The participants delved into methods to bolster collaborations among governments, the UN, international financial institutions, and the private sector. They also underscored the importance of flexible and sustainable financing to aid countries in overcoming recurrent crises and facilitating a seamless transition from emergency response to recovery and reconstruction.

Saudi Arabia shared its vision for humanitarian and development efforts as interconnected tracks. It reaffirmed its unwavering support for countries and communities impacted by crises, aiding them in moving from emergency relief to recovery and sustainable development. The Kingdom's backing for Lebanon and its commitment to the country's stability, sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity were also emphasized.

Moreover, Saudi Arabia outlined its endeavors to strengthen state institutions, promote reforms, and stimulate economic recovery. Throughout the dialogue, Saudi Arabia reiterated its dedication to partnering with nations to convert crisis response into enduring pathways for development and stability, with a focus on countries' national priorities and placing people at the heart of these initiatives.
