In the run-up to the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, political parties are increasingly using AI-generated videos for messaging. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Samajwadi Party (SP) are engaged in a "war of videos," with each accusing the other of creating and circulating derogatory content. Akhilesh Yadav, the SP president, has repeatedly showcased AI videos during his press conferences, including one featuring a character resembling BJP's Yogi Adityanath.

The BJP questioned why SP leaders publicly displayed such content. Akhilesh claimed the videos were obtained from unknown sources and called for an investigation into the circulation of such videos via social media. The SP argues that these videos are created by party workers and supporters, not officially produced by the party.

The BJP maintains that it did not upload any derogatory AI videos through its official handles and that the content is not officially sanctioned by the party.
