8 terrorists killed in KP's North Waziristan: security sources

Security forces conducted an intelligence-based operation in North Waziristan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, resulting in the death of eight terrorists on Thursday. The perpetrators were members of Fitna al Khawarij, a term used by the state to refer to terrorists associated with the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). During the operation, the hideouts of the terrorists were completely destroyed.

Despite the terrorists attempting to use a mosque as cover, the security forces carried out the mission "with precision," respecting the mosque's sanctity. Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi paid tribute to the security forces for eliminating the terrorists, praising their determination to eradicate terrorism from its roots. KP and Balochistan have seen a rise in terrorist attacks in recent weeks, leading to intensified counter-terrorism operations.

In August, KP recorded 54 terrorist attacks, a 50% increase from July's 36 incidents. On the night between August 31 and September 1, security forces killed 15 terrorists attempting to cross into North Waziristan through the Afghan border, subsequently eliminating an additional ten terrorists. A separate encounter in North Waziristan resulted in the neutralization of seven more terrorists after their border movement was detected.

In late August, the official vehicle of the Miramshah assistant commissioner was targeted in North Waziristan's Mirali tehsil, though the occupants, including the assistant commissioner's family members, were unharmed.
