8 terrorists killed in KP's North Waziristan: security sources

During an intelligence-based operation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's North Waziristan, security forces killed eight terrorists on Thursday. According to security sources, the terrorists were affiliated with the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and went by the state's term Fitna al Khawarij. The hideouts of the terrorists were completely destroyed during the operation, which was described as "precise" and mindful of a nearby mosque.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi paid tribute to the security forces for their successful elimination of the "eight Khawarij." Naqvi highlighted KP's role as a frontline against terrorism and the determination of security forces to root out terrorism from its roots. The KP and Balochistan regions have seen a surge in terrorist attacks recently, leading security forces to ramp up counter-terrorism measures.

In August, KP recorded 54 terrorist attacks, up from 36 in July, a 50 percent increase according to the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS). On the night of August 31 to September 1, security forces killed 15 terrorists attempting to cross into North Waziristan from the Afghan border and subsequently eliminated 10 more terrorists in the area.

Additionally, seven terrorists were neutralized in a separate encounter along the Pak-Afghan border after their movement was detected, as reported by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
