S. Korea takes silver in team shooting event

NAGOYA, Japan — On Wednesday, South Korea secured silver in the women's 10-meter air pistol team event at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games. The South Korean team, comprising Choo Ga-eun, Kim Bo-mi, and Oh Ye-jin, achieved a score of 1,730 points, placing them second in the competition. China finished in first place, 5 points ahead of South Korea, while Japan concluded third, 11 points behind South Korea at the Aichi Prefectural General Shooting Gallery in Toyota, a location situated approximately 25 kilometers east of Nagoya.

In team events, the medal is awarded based on the combined scores of the three athletes from each nation in their individual qualification round. Choo Ga-eun set a new Asian Games record with a score of 582 points during the qualification round. Choo is among the eight finalists competing for individual medals later on Wednesday.

However, both Kim Bo-mi and Oh Ye-jin did not advance to the finals, as they both scored 574 points. This marked Oh Ye-jin's disappointing Asian Games debut, considering she had previously won the 2024 Olympic gold medal in this event and held the Olympic record for this particular competition.
