Diamondbacks beat Rockies 7-2, send Colorado to its 4th straight season of 100 or more losses

DENVER (AP) — Nolan Arenado, Colorado's all-time home run leader, connected for his 28th homer of the season during the Rockies' 7-2 loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks. Michael Soroka silenced the Rockies on the mound, striking out nine batters in seven innings of one-run ball. The Diamondbacks' victory moved them four games behind Philadelphia in the NL wild-card race, with five games remaining for both teams.

Arenado extended his on-base streak to 16 games, batting .379 with seven homers and 14 RBIs. Gabriel Moreno and Geraldo Perdomo contributed with two RBIs each. For Colorado, Kyle Freeland (4-11) fell to the Diamondbacks, allowing five earned runs in three innings as he completed his final home start in Denver.
