S. Korea takes silver in team shooting event

Nagoya, Japan — South Korea claimed silver in the women’s 10-meter air pistol team event at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games on Wednesday, marking its fourth shooting medal at the competition. The Korean team, comprising Choo Ga-eun, Kim Bo-mi, and Oh Ye-jin, secured 1,730 points, finishing five points behind China but 11 points ahead of Japan at the Aichi Prefectural General Shooting Gallery in Toyota.

Team medals in shooting are determined by the combined scores of the three athletes from each nation, as they performed in their individual qualification rounds. Choo Ga-eun set an Asian Games record with 582 points in her qualification round, making her one of eight finalists vying for individual medals later that day. However, both Kim Bo-mi and Oh Ye-jin, the 2024 Olympic champion and Olympic record holder, respectively, fell short of the finals, with scores of 574 points each.

This marked a disappointing debut for Oh at the Asian Games, as she had previously won an Olympic gold medal in this event.
