Rivers Hoopers secured the 2026 Nigeria Premier Basketball League title in a stellar climax to their season. Following an unbeaten run to the Final Four playoffs, the KingsMen concluded their championship journey with overwhelming style. The team triumphed over Gboko City Chiefs 88-76, followed by a nail-biting overtime win against Maktown Flyers 92-90.
The victory over Gboko came after the KingsMen drained 12 three-pointers, while the overtime win against Maktown completed a perfect run for the team, marking their seventh NPBL crown.
Head coach Ogoh Odaudu expressed immense joy at the team's redemption after a heartbreaking loss in last season's championship game. Odaudu emphasized the team's desire to avoid a repeat of the prior disappointment and celebrated the victory as a testament to their hard work and skill. The title also ensures Rivers Hoopers' presence in the 2027 Basketball Africa League, following their absence from the continental stage last season.
