Ray Gunn trailer: Brad Bird blends sci-fi and film noir for a futuristic mystery

Netflix has unveiled the trailer for Ray Gunn, a film directed by the creative mind behind The Incredibles and The Iron Giant, Brad Bird. This long-awaited project, which Bird has been nurturing since the 1990s, marks a unique fusion of science fiction and film noir set against the backdrop of Metropia, a sprawling metropolis characterized by towering skyscrapers, aerial vehicles, and an alien-human coexistence.

The narrative follows Ray Gunn, portrayed by Sam Rockwell, a disheartened private investigator grappling with financial troubles. Ray and his extraterrestrial ally, Eyera, voiced by Tom Waits, are desperate to secure a lucrative gig to stave off business collapse. Their opportunity arrives in the form of a high-stakes case revolving around the enigmatic media mogul Venus Nova, played by Scarlett Johansson, and a murder that shrouds her in suspicion.

The trailer teases a whirlwind of action, including high-speed chases through flying cars and intense blaster battles. Ray Gunn, featuring a stellar ensemble cast including Alan Tudyk, Matt Berry, Bobby Cannavale, and Patton Oswalt, is set to premiere on Netflix on December 18, just a few days after its limited theatrical release on December 4.
