Malaysia, China meterai MoU pacu kerjasama pengangkutan

Malaysia and China inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in Beijing, signaling a framework for bilateral cooperation in transport and logistics sectors. The agreement, signed by Transport Minister Loke Siew Fook and Chinese counterpart Liu Wei, encompasses land, rail, maritime, and air transport, as well as the logistics industry. Key areas of focus include technical expertise exchange, capacity building, artificial intelligence integration, green transport, and low-carbon infrastructure development.

During the signing ceremony, Loke and Liu discussed expanding strategic cooperation in the transport sector to enhance connectivity, efficiency, and sustainability of their respective transport systems. This cooperation aims to bolster Malaysia's policymaking capabilities, improve supply chain efficiency, attract Chinese technology investment, and consolidate Malaysia's position as a regional transport hub within ASEAN.

In addition to the transport MoU, Malaysia and China also established a separate agreement on civil aviation safety cooperation. This pact between the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia and the Civil Aviation Administration of China covers qualifications approval, certification, aviation organization oversight, licensing, flight operations, and aims to elevate Malaysia's civil aviation safety standards, minimize technical process duplication, and facilitate the exchange of aeronautical products and services.

The transport minister also paid a courtesy call on the National Railway Administration of China's administrator, Song Xiude. Their discussions centered on rail sector development, regulation, operational safety, capacity building, and the incorporation of technology in rail systems. The visit underscores the strong and mature relationship between Malaysia and China, with both nations committed to practical and mutually beneficial cooperation in the transport domain.
