Luxus unter Strom: SUV Torcal soll Bentley ins Elektro-Zeitalter beamen

Bentley has ventured into the electric vehicle realm with the introduction of the Torcal SUV, which is set to hit the market in London in the summer of 2027 at a price point of approximately 200,000 euros. This marks the brand's first purely electric model, putting it among competitors such as the Mercedes EQS and BMW iX5. However, the Torcal remains slightly smaller than the conventionally powered Bentayga, which is priced higher.

The Torcal is built on the same platform as Porsche's G-wagens, the Cayenne and Macan, and features an 800-volt battery pack capable of a charging rate of up to 400 kW. This battery pack, with a 113 kWh capacity, offers a standard range of 600 kilometers and can be charged from 10% to 80% in just 16 minutes. Ten minutes of charging time provides around 200 kilometers of additional range.

Powered by two motors, the Torcal's base model produces 604 kW/821 PS, while the S-version reaches 653 kW/888 PS. In the best-case scenario, the vehicle can accelerate from a standstill to 100 km/h in 2.9 seconds and reach a top speed of up to 260 km/h.

While Bentley aims to make a strong impact in Generation E, the company has not ruled out the possibility of continuing to produce conventional powertrain vehicles for as long as possible. The company's CEO, Frank-Steffen Walliser, announced that the internal combustion engine phase is being phased out.
