Lagos APC expels ex-Agege chairman, aspirant over defection to APM

The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has expelled two former members, Ganiyu Egunjobi and Azeez Yusuf, for defecting to the Allied Peoples Movement (APM). The expulsions were announced by APC Chairman Cornelius Ojelabi in a Facebook post on Wednesday. Ojelabi accused the two of anti-party activities and disloyalty, stating that they had failed to respect the outcome of the party's primaries and had engaged in "grave injustice."

Egunjobi and Yusuf had initially contested the APC primaries for Agege Constituencies I and II but did not secure the party's tickets. They subsequently obtained tickets from the APM and contested on their own platform. Ojelabi emphasized that membership of the APC is not a convenient political garment that can be discarded immediately after an unsuccessful outcome.

The expulsion is in line with Article 9(5)(II) of the APC Constitution, amended in 2022, and in accordance with the 2026 electoral framework. The APC chairman warned that the expelled members have no authority to represent or transact business on behalf of the Lagos State APC or the All Progressives Congress.
