Lagos APC expels ex-Agege chairman, aspirant over defection to APM

The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has expelled two of its former members, Ganiyu Egunjobi and Azeez Yusuf, for defecting to the Allied Peoples Movement (APM). This decision came after the pair contested in the party's primaries for the Agege Constituencies I and II, but were unsuccessful in securing the party's tickets.

They subsequently obtained seats from the APM. The state APC Chairman, Cornelius Ojelabi, announced the expulsions in a statement on his Facebook page, citing anti-party activities and disloyalty. Egunjobi and Yusuf defended their decision to leave the APC, claiming it was an independent choice following what they perceived as "grave injustice" in the party's handling of the primaries.

Ojelabi accused the two of disrespecting the outcome of the internal party process and expressed disappointment that they had not sought reconciliation within the party. The expulsion is in line with the party's rules and constitutional obligations, which state that members who lose internal contests must accept the outcome or pursue legitimate avenues of redress.
