India's $507 million line of credit to Maldives effective August 27, cenbank says

A deep depression over the westcentral and northwest Bay of Bengal is forecast to cross the coasts of north Andhra Pradesh and south Odisha near Kalingapatnam by September 23, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). This system is expected to bring heavy to very heavy rainfall, with isolated extremely heavy rainfall, to parts of Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Telangana on September 24.

As the depression moves north, it is likely to affect central and eastern India over the following days, bringing widespread rainfall to Chhattisgarh, east Madhya Pradesh, and Vidarbha from September 24-29. West Bengal, Odisha, Jharkhand, Bihar, and parts of Bihar are also expected to receive significant rainfall from September 24-27.

The weather system will extend into northwest India, affecting east Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, and Jammu and Kashmir from September 26-29. Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, and parts of Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat will see rainfall withdraw from the southwest monsoon as the system moves through the region. The IMD predicts scattered to isolated rainfall in Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, and Punjab from September 25-29, while Uttar Pradesh may see rainfall towards the end of the period.

West Rajasthan is expected to have isolated to scattered rainfall throughout September 24-29. In western India, Konkan, Goa, and Marathawada will have widespread rainfall on September 24, with isolated to scattered rainfall continuing through September 29. Gujarat and Madhya Maharashtra are expected to receive isolated rainfall during the same period.

Southern peninsular India, including Kerala, Mahe, Lakshadweep, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, and coastal Karnataka, will remain wet.
