Alhaji Faisal Abdullah Masud installed as Tema’s first Sariki Zongo

Alhaji Faisal Abdullah Masud has been officially appointed as the first Sariki Zongo I of Tema, marking a historic milestone for the city's Zongo communities. Widely known as Alhaji Faisal Saltan or Alhaji Netro, his installation signifies a unified leadership structure for diverse Zongo communities across Tema Manhean, Tema New Town, Community One, Bankuman, Ashaiman, and surrounding areas.

This leadership is expected to strengthen unity, representation, and development across the various ethnic groups, including Dagomba, Frafra, Hausa, Kusaasi, Mamprusi, Kotokoli, Yoruba, and others.

The coronation ceremony brought together traditional leaders, Islamic authorities, ethnic community representatives, and other stakeholders, showcasing the city's long-standing relationship between Muslims and Christians. It was a celebration of culture, unity, and peaceful coexistence, further emphasizing the importance of this new traditional leadership structure aimed at fostering dialogue, cooperation, and development within the Zongo communities.

Alhaji Faisal Abdullah Masud, a business leader, sports enthusiast, and community developer, brings extensive experience in business, sports, and community development to his role. He is the president of True Democracy F.C., a top-tier football team, owner of 90’s Lounge, and CEO of Paramount Empire Trading and Investment Company Limited and Sultan Incorporation. His background also includes involvement in the hospitality and agricultural sectors as a hotelier and farmer.

As the first Sariki Zongo I of Tema, Masud has outlined a six-point development agenda focused on building a united, peaceful, and progressive Zongo community. His priorities include unity and peace-building, youth empowerment and sports development, education and skills development, economic empowerment and entrepreneurship, sanitation, health, and social welfare, and community security.

Masud's vision emphasizes building stronger relationships with the Tema Traditional Council and government institutions, supporting young people through sports, hospitality, trading, agriculture, and other avenues, promoting education, reducing school dropout rates, and providing scholarships. Additionally, he plans to mentor entrepreneurs, support traders and market women, and promote financial inclusion within the Zongo communities.

The agenda also addresses sanitation, health, and social welfare, as well as community security and the fight against drug abuse, in collaboration with local authorities and community leaders.
