Hesson says Pakistan will put pressure on India if two rivals meet in Asian Games

AICHI: Wushu athlete Clement Ting achieved a bronze medal in the men's daoshu-gunshu event at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games on Wednesday, effectively erasing the disappointment of his third-place finish at the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games. This historic achievement marked the first time a Malaysian athlete had won a medal in the daoshu-gunshu event at the Asian Games.

Clement earned a score of 9.690 in daoshu and 9.713 in gunshu, totaling 19.403 points. China's Gao Xiao Bin clinched the gold medal with 19.582 points, while South Korea's Lee Ha Sung secured silver with 19.406 points.

For Clement, this accomplishment was especially significant as he had finished fifth overall during his debut at the 2022 Asian Games in Hangzhou. The 28-year-old athlete credited his experience from his previous Asian Games appearance for helping him approach this year's competition with greater confidence and composure. He expressed his pride in representing Malaysia twice at the Asian Games and acknowledged the high level of competition at these international events.

Clement emphasized that confidence played a crucial role in his successful performance, warning that a lack of confidence could negatively impact his focus during the competition. He described daoshu and gunshu as highly challenging events, declaring that he was extremely proud to bring home the bronze medal today, a testament to his dedication and hard work.
