Here’s Why Britney Spears Biopic Director Jon M. Chu Is ‘Not Even Thinking About Casting’ Yet

Director Jon M. Chu remains tight-lipped about casting decisions for Britney Spears' biopic, expressing that the focus is currently on telling her story accurately. At a recent gala in Los Angeles, Chu emphasized the importance of getting the narrative right, rather than rushing into casting. Writer Liz Meriwether, who is adapting Spears' memoir for the big screen, is currently working on the script, and Chu has reviewed some of her work.

She has been deeply immersed in Spears' life, describing her efforts as "beautiful," "profound," and "beautiful." Despite receiving numerous unsolicited audition submissions from around the world, Chu isn't yet ready to announce actors for the lead role. The biopic, initially announced in 2024, is produced by Universal Pictures with Chu directing and Marc Platt as a producer.
