Drug trafficking: ‘Assist investigations with your evidence or give us a break’ – Mustapha Gbande tells NPP

Mustapha Gbande, Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has called on the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to assist the government in dealing with Ghana's drug trafficking issue instead of making political accusations. Gbande, also Deputy Director of Operations at the Presidency, made these remarks during a discussion on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem.

He urged the NPP to provide evidence if they possess information about alleged drug traffickers, rather than making public accusations that could harm the country's international reputation.

The NPP National Organiser, Henry Nana Boakye, recently criticized President John Mahama over drug trafficking concerns and highlighted how it impacts Ghanaian travellers and exporters at international airports. However, Gbande stressed the need for a collective approach to tackle the issue and cautioned against rushing decisions due to political pressure.

Gbande questioned the NPP's credibility to lead discussions on drug trafficking, pointing out their record during their eight years in power. He emphasized that the current administration should be given the opportunity to handle the matter through proper security and investigative processes.
