Oyo 2027: Adelabu clears air on APC defection rumour

Former Oyo State Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, has firmly denied rumors of defecting from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to another political party. This clarification came from his media office on Tuesday, following the departure of his media aide, Ajiboye Akande, from the APC to join the Allied Peoples Movement (APM).

Adelabu, who had been an aspirant for the APC governorship ticket in Oyo State but lost in the primaries, clarified that Akande is no longer his personal assistant and has no official or political connection with him. The ex-minister emphasized that their relationship ended when he decided to align himself with another political party.

Adelabu stressed that his disagreement with the Oyo governorship nomination process was not about leaving the APC but rather about issues of transparency and legitimacy. He restated his intention to remain a member of the APC and expressed his admiration for President Bola Tinubu, viewing him as his political mentor and benefactor, and affirmed his commitment to the party that had previously offered him the chance to serve.
