Delhi Confidential: Solicitor General defends Congress-led Karnataka government; Akhilesh Yadav puts SP inductions on hold

Today: Solicitor General Tushar Mehta is defending the Congress-led Karnataka government before the Supreme Court, while Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav has suspended the party's inductions until Navratri. Mehta's unusual courtroom appearance on Tuesday was in support of the Greater Bengaluru Authority, chaired by Chief Minister D K Shivakumar.

The SG argued that urban spaces must expand vertically. However, the Supreme Court bench, headed by Chief Justice of India Surya Kant, intervened in the case. Meanwhile, Akhilesh Yadav has temporarily halted any new party inductions, as he believes prominent leaders will join the SP during Navratri, from October 11 onwards, to bolster their chances in the 2027 UP Assembly elections.
