Zelensky Warns Putin May Attack NATO Country to Distract From Heavy Losses at Home

President Volodymyr Zelensky has cautioned that Russia may target another European nation with drones, missiles, or even ground forces in an attempt to disunite Western countries and lessen support for Ukraine. During a meeting with US President Donald Trump off the UN General Assembly in New York, Zelensky fielded a question from Fox News Digital regarding the likelihood of Russia launching an attack on another European country.

The Ukrainian president argued that Russian President Vladimir Putin is grappling with domestic pressure as Russia fails to achieve battlefield victories to justify the escalating costs of the war. Zelensky explained that Putin is desperate to present an outcome that his population can view as a triumph, questioning whether the capture of the Donbas region alone would suffice.

He doubted that this would be enough to satisfy the Kremlin's objectives. Zelensky suggested that Moscow might seek to fracture European unity and diminish support for Ukraine by attacking another European country and asserting that it will go further unless stopped. The Ukrainian leader further noted that Russia is already attempting to intimidate European societies via drone incursions and border incidents, citing Moldova, Romania, Poland, as well as disruptions at airports in Germany and Nordic nations.

He warned that the risk of an offensive attack by drones, missiles, or land forces against neighboring countries is high.
