Anwar says PH open to talks with any party ahead of Melaka polls

Pakatan Harapan (PH) is ready to engage in discussions with any political party prior to the Melaka state election, including Bersatu, according to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. The coalition's willingness to negotiate is aimed at improving Malaysia's political environment, as arrogance and refusal to talk is not conducive to healthy political discourse.

Anwar has instructed Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari to initiate talks. In his words, "If someone says they are ready to talk, we talk." He emphasized the importance of open dialogue over stubbornness. Some critics argue that PH is reluctant to cooperate with certain parties. However, Anwar clarifies that PH will discuss issues at hand regardless of whether they agree or not.

The decision regarding any future political cooperation will be made by the committee. Anwar, who is also PH chairman, delivered a keynote address at the opening of the WorldSkills Conference 2026 in Shanghai, where he responded to inquiries about the possibility of PH forming alliances with other parties. Anwar expressed his intention to continue serving the country during the remaining 15 months of his administration, hoping for good health to fulfill his duties.
