AG Sindh reviews pension cases, accounts office issues in Hyderabad

On Tuesday, Accountant General Sindh Miandad Rahujo convened a meeting at Shahbaz Hall, Hyderabad, where he reviewed concerns surrounding pension cases and accounts offices with District Accounts Officers (DAOs) and Additional District Accounts Officers (ADAOs) of the Hyderabad Division.

During his tenure, Rahujo had personally witnessed several issues impacting pensioners, primarily procedural delays and challenges in processing pension-related cases during his visits to various districts of Sindh and open katchahris. In response, he urged the accounts officers to treat pensioners with respect and assist them in resolving their cases.

Rahujo emphasized that government employees dedicated their professional lives to serving the state and it would be unjust to make them face difficulties or be improperly treated after retirement. DAOs reported on the procedural issues faced by their offices and the difficulties encountered in processing pension and other financial matters.

The meeting also addressed complaints of potential double issuance or payment of certain allowances within the Police, Health, and other departments. The Auditor General instructed all concerned DAOs to investigate the cases and provide detailed reports within a week.

Rahujo stressed the importance of transparency, rigorous scrutiny of government payments, and prompt resolution of pensioners' grievances. He directed the officers to ensure that procedural shortcomings did not cause undue hardship to retired employees.
