Ukrainian drones attack Samara as fire is reported at Kuybyshev oil refinery, one of the Volga region’s largest

Ukrainian drones targeted the city of Samara on the night of September 22, according to reports. A fire subsequently erupted at the Kuibyshev Oil Refinery, as confirmed by eyewitness photos and videos analyzed by Astra, a news outlet. Governor Vyacheslav Fedorishchev of Samara informed the public via Telegram that air defenses had successfully intercepted "dozens of drones" in the region.

Fedorishchev did not specify the fire at the Kuibyshev refinery but noted that private residences, vehicles, and other civilian structures had sustained damage. There were no reported casualties. The Kuibyshev Oil Refinery, a significant facility in the Volga region alongside the Novokuibyshevsk and Syzran refineries, is part of Rosneft’s Samara refining complex. All three refineries have previously faced drone attacks, leading to halts in production.
