Trump makes no mention of N. Korea while touching on Iran, AI, other key issues

U.S. President Donald Trump did not mention North Korea or other Korean Peninsula issues during his recent address to the U.N. General Assembly, despite his intention to meet North Korean leader Kim Jong-un later this year. In his second address to the Assembly during his second term, Trump discussed a range of key topics, including the Iran war, the Ukraine conflict, and artificial intelligence, which he referred to as "superintelligence."

However, he did not reference North Korea, despite speculation that he would attempt to reignite his personal diplomatic efforts with Kim that resulted in three face-to-face meetings during his first term. Trump had previously mentioned North Korea in three of the four speeches he gave during his first term, such as his 2017 address where he labeled North Korean leader Kim a "rocket man" amid tensions over Pyongyang's missile provocations.
