'We are settling years of unfinished business': Trump talks up Iran, Gaza, Latin America strategy

US President Donald Trump addressed the UN General Assembly, reflecting on his 20-month tenure as president, despite lacking concrete evidence to support his claims. In his 38-minute speech, Trump touched upon Iran, Gaza, and Latin America but largely avoided direct attacks he launched last year. He made unsubstantiated assertions, including that 72,000 Iranians were killed by their government last year, a figure far higher than the 3,500-5,000 figure provided by Iranian authorities and human rights organizations.

Trump's claims of Hamas and other Palestinian groups torturing, mutilating, and killing babies in Gaza also lack corroborative evidence. Israeli media and the Israeli army have debunked these allegations, while admitting to mistakes in the past. Despite these inaccuracies, Trump reiterated his vision for US foreign policy, which includes seeking to have UN member states withdraw from the International Criminal Court (ICC).
