Sivasangari targets Asian Games gold, Olympic berth

Malaysia's top women's squash player, S Sivasangari, is targeting a gold medal in the Asian Games 2026 while also aiming for Olympic qualification. The 27-year-old has previously won gold in both the women's singles and team events at the Hangzhou 2022 Asian Games. Sivasangari, currently ranked fifth in the world, is expected to begin her campaign in Aichi-Nagoya tomorrow.

The Asian Games hold special significance for her, with the added motivation of securing an Olympic berth. Winning is her ultimate goal, but she emphasizes the importance of focusing on other aspects, such as mental preparation, after an intensive six-week training period in Prague. Following this, she will compete in PSA tournaments in London and Qatar to regain her competitive rhythm.

Sivasangari notes that her physical training is complete, but the mental aspect becomes crucial during the tournament. She believes that playing more matches will help improve her rhythm.
