Rainbow Coalition: APC needs Wike more, he has qualities like Tinubu – Jibrin

Abdulmumin Jibrin, a House of Representatives member from Kiru/Bebeji Federal Constituency, has informed the Progressive Governors Forum, PGF, that the All Progressives Congress, APC, requires Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, more than the governor of Rivers State needs the ruling party. Jibrin, an APC chieftain, also noted that other political parties, like the African Democratic Congress, ADC, and the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, are prepared to welcome Wike if he were to disengage from the APC.

He emphasized that the APC governors should engage in negotiations with Wike, similar to how President Bola Tinubu initiated when securing his support. PGF, led by Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma, is vehemently opposed to the Rainbow Coalition, which now boasts over 100 senatorial candidates and numerous additional positions, including House of Representatives and State Assemblies.

During an interview on Arise News, Jibrin highlighted that Wike's extensive contributions to the ruling party warrant his continued involvement, particularly in light of the upcoming general elections. He stated that Wike, despite being absent from office for 16-17 years, maintains his relevance and would remain in demand should he abandon the APC.

Jibrin urged the governors to approach the situation with pragmatism and recognize Wike's value, adding that the specific circumstances of each state necessitate individualized discussions with the minister.
