Obi-led NDC govt will reintroduce fuel subsidy in ‘different form’ – Kwankwaso

Rabiu Kwankwaso, the Vice Presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), has stated that a government led by the party's presidential candidate, Peter Obi, would reintroduce fuel subsidy, albeit in a different form. Kwankwaso expressed this during an interview with Arise TV, discussing the fuel subsidy policy of President Bola Tinubu's administration ahead of the 2027 election.

When asked about the challenge of campaigning for the NDC in the North-West region, where there is support for the return of fuel subsidy, Kwankwaso affirmed that they would still pursue the policy in their own way. He suggested that the government could invest in refineries to increase domestic fuel production and make petrol available at a reasonable price.
