Los 40 gurús de Davos alertan: cuidado con la IA y 'data centers'

The World Economic Forum in Davos has warned about the potential risks posed by artificial intelligence (AI) and data centers on global economic growth. The organization's Chief Economists Outlook report, which aggregates the views of 40 leading international economic minds, provides a first-ever glimpse into the impact of these technologies on global economic growth.

The message is clear: "Be aware! Problems are coming!" While the global economy is expected to stabilize, fiscal constraints, rising living costs, and uncertainty surrounding AI investment investments, particularly due to social backlash against data centers, threaten growth.

Fifty-six percent of surveyed economists predict a stable or more favorable outlook for the coming year, a significant improvement from the May survey where 89% forecasted worsening conditions. However, only 28% expect fiscal support to continue providing economic resilience next year. While 97% of respondents forecast increased adoption of AI, 79% anticipate significant opposition to the expansion of data centers, and 61% believe there will be no significant job creation.

Nearly all respondents (97%) view geopolitical conflicts as a probable source of uncertainty for the next year, with 58% predicting asset price corrections and only a quarter believing the global economy will be more resilient.
