CaixaBank prevé una Rote del 20% en 2027 y crecer menos en hipotecas

CaixaBank predicts a 20% return on tangible capital by 2027, one of the highest in European banking, according to its CEO Gonzalo Gortzar. The bank has been performing well, with an 18% return on tangible capital in the first half of 2023. Gortzar attributes the sustainable profitability of the bank to its unique position in the market, including Spain and Portugal, and in life insurance.

While the bank expects a slower growth rate in credit portfolios compared to nominal economic growth, Gortzar remains confident in building profitability from current levels. The bank's focus on Spain and Portugal is seen as attractive to investors compared to returning capital. However, the segment of mortgages is seen as less promising due to rising home prices and a lack of housing supply.

Despite a higher inflation rate, CaixaBank expects to maintain its dividend policy of distributing 50-60% of profits and continues to invest in organic growth, particularly in corporate banking, which has shown steady growth. The bank's Imagin platform is expected to support further innovation.
