Indian high commission warns against misuse of visa-free facility for jobs

The Indian high commission in Kuala Lumpur has cautioned Indian citizens against utilizing Malaysia's 30-day visa-free entry to engage in work. The advisory was issued in response to a growing number of arrivals of individuals allegedly enticed by fraudulent job prospects. The high commission posted the warning on its official X account, reiterating that the visa-free arrangement is exclusively intended for tourism and social excursions.

Indian nationals arriving in Malaysia with the 30-day visa-free facility to seek employment has seen a noticeable surge. The high commission of India in Kuala Lumpur cautions Indian nationals traveling to Malaysia on tourist visas against seeking employment. Many Indian nationals are deceived by unscrupulous agents who offer false job promises, resulting in overstays, illegal status, exploitation, detention, and legal consequences, according to the high commission.

The high commission emphasized that Indian nationals must not pursue employment in Malaysia without a valid work permit or visa with a reference. Genuine tourists are required to present valid and verifiable documentation, including confirmed return tickets, hotel reservations, an online submission of the Malaysia digital arrival card three days prior to their arrival date, and passports with a minimum six-month validity, to prevent immigration-related problems upon arrival in Malaysia.
