Govt to develop Nalgonda as smart city: Minister Komatireddy

Nalgonda Municipal Corporation is set to be transformed into a smart city by the government, according to Roads & Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy. The announcement came on Tuesday, during the inauguration of two wetting machines procured for sanitation purposes in the district headquarters. The Minister emphasized that Nalgonda has recently been honored with the Swachh Award.

Tender invitations have been issued for the provision of round-the-clock drinking water supply, with an estimated cost of ₹83 crore. Additionally, 63 km of CC roads have been laid using State Finance Department (SDF) funds, and further road and drainage developments are planned for the remaining divisions. The sewage treatment plant is expected to be completed within six months.

An Outer Ring Road, valued at ₹900 crore, is currently under construction around the Nalgonda Municipal Corporation, alongside drainage and sewage treatment plant works. Present at the event were District Collector B. Chandrasekhar, Nalgonda Mayor Burri Chaitanya Srinivas Reddy, and Municipal Commissioner Vamsi Krishna.
