Flood: Anambra urges residents to take precautionary measures

Anambra State's government has warned residents to take precautionary measures against potential flooding, following a forecast from the Nigerian Meteorological Agency. The agency has predicted above-normal flooding this year for Anambra, a state located within the Delta belt. This warning was announced in a press release by the state's Commissioner for Information and Value Reformation, Law Mefor, and Commissioner for Environment, Dr. Clem Aguiyi.

Despite the government's assurance of proactive measures to minimize the impact of the flooding, they urged Anambra residents to prioritize their safety throughout the rainy season. The statement emphasized the need for residents to remain vigilant, avoid unnecessary travel during heavy rain, and take necessary precautions for personal safety.

This includes relocating from flood-prone areas if necessary, and seeking immediate assistance during emergencies. The government reiterated its commitment to protect lives and property, and appealed for the public's cooperation.
