European neocloud Verda raises $189M to build the AI infrastructure of tomorrow

European neocloud company Verda Cloud Oy has secured $189 million in early-stage funding to develop its artificial intelligence (AI) cloud infrastructure. The Series B round, led by Emergence Capital, was joined by investments from MUFG Innovation Partners, Supermicro, Varma Mutual Pension Insurance Company, Lifeline Ventures, 6 Degrees Capital, byFounders and Tesi, as well as angel investors Ola Tørudbakken and Mark Saroufim. The funding brings the company's total raised to over $450 million, combining equity and debt.

Verda Cloud aims to deliver large-scale managed AI inference to enterprise-level companies, providing high optimization and reliability. The company develops its own compilers and serving software, and maintains an internal AI lab focused on solving real engineering problems, such as improving GPU utilization and inference optimization. This constant innovation ensures that customers benefit from more efficient infrastructure as new models emerge.

Founding CEO Ruben Byron believes Europe is uniquely positioned to build one of the defining compute companies of this generation, and Verda plans to expand its data center capacity to over 250 megawatts by 2027. The company will operate centers in Finland and across Europe, the United Kingdom, the United States, and Asia, with Nvidia VR200 NVL72 rack-scale supercomputers set to be deployed soon.

Verda Cloud already powers AI workloads for organizations in more than 50 countries, including the sovereign AI development firm Aleph Alpha GmbH and AI-assisted visual content company Magnific. Epsilon Health uses Verda's infrastructure to train its own radiology AI models. The company's recent funding will be used to address evolving customer needs, such as longer sessions and agentic use cases, by improving provisioning times and investing in its AI lab to collaborate with other AI labs, open-source projects, and developer tool companies.
